Ezek 20:3 Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Have you come to inquire of me? As surely as I live, I will not let you inquire of me, declares the Sovereign LORD.' Sometimes super-spirituality covers up a whole bunch of bad attitudes. Here is the charismatically inclined woman who is seen at all the big celebrations with her hands in the air, but her husband is neglected. Here is the deacon in the church, a pillar of the church, but he has no time for his children. Here's the person who is so good at Bible Study in church, but at work they are known for cutting corners and leaving early. It should not be.
These elders of Israel come to the prophet Ezekiel to enquire of the Lord. How good it sounds, leaders who want to hear God speak. The only trouble is, these leaders preside over an ungodly and unrighteous people and they are part of this ungodly and unrighteous people. So they come looking spiritually good, but they seem to have forgotten that they are dealing with the Living God, God who sees and knows everything. So the Lord declares through Ezekiel that He will not have them enquiring of Him, He will not answer like a puppet that does their bidding. It doesn't work like that.
We have to realise that we cannot be two-faced. We cannot be unrighteous in our own homes or work situations and then expect God to bless us in church. Life is one and God expects us to be holy in all areas of it.
