Psa 96:10  Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns." The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved;

We live in a world where, as has been said, ‘change is here to stay'. Life, it seems is constantly changing and some times change is unnerving. What is going to happen next? Many people feel that they are not in control and that life is a constant spiral of change and who knows what might come next! What comes next might be total disaster!

 

But then we come to the psalms and find the psalmist making this certain declaration: “The Lord reigns.” When we look at the evil of the world we wonder, but the more we look into the Scriptures the more we realise that He works into evil and even uses it: “This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead.” (Acts 2:23,24). That is the classic example of God interacting with sinful men to bring about His purposes.

 

Everything seems to be changing but the psalmist declares, “The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved.” This world will only change as much as God allows it to, to fit in with His good purposes – so it's not going to move!  Can we come to a place of peace in our lives, where we can be at rest in the knowledge that we are living in a world where our God is in control and He is working out stuff to fit His plans – and that includes our lives!
