Introductory Comments

This page introduces the reader to the following three pages which cover aspects of God that often arise in discussion:

      - how He has revealed Himself

      - how He interacts with His world

      - how He interacts with people.

These are specific topics that tend to arise in the minds of those questioning the Bible's teaching, and for more general information and teaching we include links to other parts of this site where that is provided.

Comment

Criticism from sceptics says why did God make a primitive world and why didn't He reveal Himself to the whole world at the beginning.

This page examines the only two logical possibilities and then goes on to examine how God revealed Himself bit by bit through particular people and then through a particular nation.

32. Questions about God in a Material World

Content

1. What is the conflict between Materialists and Christians?

2. What is the Mechanical World of the Materialist?

3. Why are there 'unhappy Christians'?

4. How is Biblical Christianity Different?

5. Do we know how much God intervenes in the natural World?

6. What happens when things 'go wrong' with the world?

7. So what does the Bible reveal about God's activity?

Comment

So often sceptics start with a materialistic presupposition with little thought of how unscientific or illogical that is, or of the consequences that must flow from that.

This page examines the extremes of pure materialists and Christians for whom God is only Creator. The limitations of those views are examined  and then the full Biblical alternative considered.

33. Questions about an Angry Judgemental God

Content

1. What is the accusation that is made?

2. What is the Nature of God described in the Bible?

3. What are the General Principles of Discipline, Correction & Judgment?

4. What are the Reasons for God's Judgment?

5. What are the forms of God's Judgment?

6. What is the Reality of God's Grace & Mercy in the Old Testament?

Comment

Critics with little knowledge often claim that God in the Old Testament is a harsh, angry God of judgement.

This page examines discipline, correction and judgement in general terms and then why God's judgement is legitimate and how He brings it, more often than not letting it come through the sinfulness of mankind.  A very different picture of God's activity in the Bible is revealed from that popular misconception that so many atheists champion.
